The relationship we have built with our users is very important to us. THE DEAF VOF, a Dutch company is committed to providing our users with a secure website to view and purchase our products as well as receive and share information about The Deaf (“Site”). Please read the following information to learn more about how and why we collect information from you and how the information is protected.
By using the products and services available on thedeaf.nl, you consent to the collection and use of this information by The Deaf.
Gathering and Use of Information
The Deaf may collect information (“Information”) from you in various different ways and through various different parts of our Site, for example, when you (1) buy one of our products through the Site, (2) enter one of our contests, (3) subscribe to our online newsletter, (4), register to become a member or use particular features of the Site or (5) post a submission in posting areas. Such Information may include your first and last name, email address, user name, password, gender, address, zip code, age, credit card information, and other information relating to you, as discussed in more detail below. All passwords collected by The Deaf on the Site are stored with an irreversible encryption logarithm and are never visible to The Deaf employees. Even if you are just surfing the Site, we may collect Information from you, such as your IP address and the particular web pages that you visit on our Site.
In general, we use the Information we collect to process your purchases, and to provide you with better information regarding the services offered through our Site, as discussed in more detail below.
Information Pertaining to Children and Minors
The Deaf does not want to collect information from minors (children under 13 years of age, or any other age defined under applicable law) and does not intentionally collect information from minors. If we become aware that a minor is attempting to or has submitted information via this site, we will notify the user that we may not accept his or her information. We will then use our commercially reasonable best efforts to expunge any personally identifiable information from our records. You need to be at least 18 years of age or have the express permission of your parent or guardian to make purchases on or Site (if you are under 18, please ask your parent or guardian for assistance). Your credit card information will be sent to one of our service providers for processing. Credit card information is securely processed by our merchant provider using SSL encryption and the highest levels of PCI Compliance for all transactions.
The Deaf may from time to time offer entry into online contests. Unless otherwise specified, you must be at least 13 years of age to enter a contest, (if you are under 18 years of age, please ask your parent or guardian for assistance) and otherwise comply with the rules established for the contest. You may be asked to provide your name, mailing address, email address, and your phone number and other information. Depending on the nature of the contest, we may also request information regarding customer (your) preferences, such as your interests, favorite bands or types of music. Information you provide will be stored in or along with your registration profile and used to provide you with information on bands, types of music, and other products and services we believe will be of interest to you.

Online Posting Areas or Blogs
If you use a Posting Area or Blog on the Site, you should be aware that any information you share is visible to other users. Personally identifiable information you submit to one of these posting areas can be read, collected, or used by other individuals to send you unsolicited messages. The Deaf is not responsible for the personally identifiable information you choose to submit in these posting areas.
Enabling the functionality of some specific services, like payment, which will not work without cookies
Enabling a service to recognize your device so you don’t have to give the same information several times during one task
Measuring how many people are using services, so the website can be made easier and more efficient to use
Analyzing data to help us understand how you use our online services
Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you do not have to accept them. The Help menu on your browser’s toolbar will provide you with the instructions to prevent your browser from accepting new cookies, set up a notification when you receive a new cookie, to disable cookies and/or delete any cookies already on your computer. If you do not disable your cookies, you accept our collection and storage of any of your personal information such cookies contain.
Information Sharing and Disclosure
In the event of a merger, acquisition, consolidation, or sale of all or substantially all the assets of The Deaf, or in the unlikely event of a bankruptcy, we reserve the right to transfer all or part of our business, including this site and your Information, to third parties.
Saving Information and Security
Your personal Information is contained behind secured networks. Please be aware, however, that no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, while we strive to protect your personal Information, The Deaf cannot insure or warrant the security of any Information you transmit to us or from our online products or services. If the event of a breach of the security of a member’s personal Information, we will notify you of such incident through the most current email address you provided to us.
We used secure servers when transmitting personal information. We also use what we believe are industry-standard technologies when transferring and receiving payment data. We have security measures in place with our payment provider and, where applicable, in our physical facilities intended to protect against the loss, misuse, or alteration of information that we have collected from or about you. When we take an order from you, we only ask for the information necessary to process your order. When we process a credit card transaction, your information is forwarded directly to our credit card processor for authorization and is not stored on The Deaf’s servers.
Use of IP Addresses

Our site may contain links to, or website addresses for, third parties, such as bands and music companies. Please be aware these third parties’ sites are not under our control and will have their own privacy policies, which may differ from our practices.
Third Party Advertising
This site may contain general and classified advertisements. These advertisements are one more way that we help you find the products and services you need, and are delivered to users by our web advertising partners. Information about users’ visits to the Site, such as number of times they have viewed an ad (but not user name, address, or other personal information), is used to serve ads to users on our website. Please remember, however, that when you respond to one of these advertisements by email, you may be sending information to a third party and not to The Deaf or this site. We cannot control the use or security of or otherwise be responsible for any information that you send to a third party, so please be careful.
You can unsubscribe from any The Deaf newsletter in the following ways: (1) uncheck the newsletter subscription box in your profile setting on the website; or (2) click the unsubscribe link in the emails you receive. If you are unsuccessful at opting out, please contact The Deaf as indicated below.
